M2M – Monitor your heart on the Internet

A revolutionary surgical procedure that allows doctors to remotely monitor a patient’s heartbeat over the internet was tried for the first time in New Zealand yesterday.

Neville Hawker became the first person in Australasia to be fitted with an electronic defibrillator that is connected to the internet.

The device will enable Mr Hawker’s Hamilton surgeon to monitor the Tauranga man’s heart performance using wireless technology.

Waikato Hospital cardiologist Dr Spencer Heald said it was like Mr Hawker having his own ER team at the ready inside his body. The electronic defibrillator can automatically kick-start Mr Hawker’s heart if it decides to shut down.

M2M – To manage your Laundry Cost

LaundryView is an Internet application that allows you to monitor the status of washers and dryers in connected laundry rooms through a Web browser. LaundryView was developed in response to requests for greater control over laundry activities. Since many people tend to do their laundry during similar time periods, it results in busy laundry rooms. LaundryView’s mission is to help you save time by providing information about the current state of laundry room equipment wherever you have access to a browser or e-mail messages.

LaundryView was developed and is maintained by Mac-Gray Corporation, the premier laundry facilities contractor in North America, providing service to more than 60,000 laundry rooms throughout the United States.

Real-time marketing of Wii console using M2M

Henley and Henley, Retail Consultants for Nintendo UK, and Comtech M2M, a leading Machine-to-Machine (M2M) solution provider, unveil the latest innovations in Point of Purchase (POP) with an in-store Retail Communication Display (RCD), which is controlled and updated from Nintendo’s Head Office. Using wireless Machine-to-Machine (M2M) technology, the display scrolls a digital message above an electronically updated image, which also supports a countdown timer to the approaching product launch date. An LCD screen in the centre of the console displays a sequence of high-resolution Jpeg images that gives consumers a ‘visual taster’ of the new product.

Following the Wii launch, the same display can be used to promote other new Nintendo game titles.

The technology allows for completely new promotional messages to be delivered to all stores remotely and in less than 10 seconds! With web based technology, a secure website has been developed so Nintendo know precisely where each display is located, positioned in-store and what content is being displayed.
