Go Green ( Indirectly related to M2M)
With this post I cross the 125 post mark. This post is about saving energy - reducing emissions and saving some part of the planet for future generations. M2M when applied correctly does lead to cost savings, improves efficiencies, improved reliability - all which point to more effecient use of energy. Use less energy to get the same amount of work done, or use the same amount of energy but get a better quality work product.
Here is a way for you all out there to save some energy -
http://www.18Seconds.org is a coalition that is urging consumers to replace incandescent bulbs with more energy effecient CFL bulbs. Not M2M but common sense for us all to do our part to reduce energy wastage.
Potential Energy savings from CFL just for my American centric world
but it does apply to all
“What kind of difference can one CFL make? Consider this: If every American swapped just ONE bulb for an ENERGY STAR labeled CFL, it would collectively save more than $8 billion in energy costs, prevent burning 30 billion pounds of coal, and remove 2 million cars worth of
greenhouse gas emissions from our atmosphere. Just imagine the difference we could make if we replaced all of the lights we use most! ”
I do have one open question - I look at energy saving from the following perspective: Amount of energy used to produce the bulb and the amount of energy consumed over the life of the bulb. Does the production of CFL bulbs cost the same in terms of energy as compared to incandescent bulbs?
